My work is about interpreting the landscape.  It is also about memory.  My feelings about nature are visceral.  I photograph "fringe" places- areas that are not inhabited by people, but that are rife with evidence of them. I also photograph places from my childhood that have stayed with me and evolved into strange, monochrome memories.

I am currently working on three different projects; Elutriate, Ghost Forests, and Understory.

Elutriate is based in the New Jersey Meadowlands. Growing up in the 70's and 80's, I had a fantasy about living there despite the dangerous and filthy nature of the area. I now return periodically to attempt to understand the attraction and feelings of security that I felt traversing this vast area as a child.

Ghost Forests is a project exploring the phenomena of dying coastal forests due to increased salinity levels, sea level rise, and other factors. This project is currently focused on the east coast from North Carolina to Massachusetts.

Understory is a project focused on the proliferation of non-native vines invading our forests.

I currently print on Japanese paper, hand coated with sulver emulsion. I shoot black and white film and handmade paper and glass negatives in multiple formats- 35mm, 4x5, 5x7, and 8x10 pinhole cameras as well as an 8x20 handmade pinhole camera. I am also revisiting an animation technique that I developed while attending SMFA.

Thank you for your interest.
